Advent eLearning Rebrand
Case Study.

Since 2005, Adventfs has provided technology-based solutions for government offices across the nation. While Adventfs represents a wide variety of products, the majority of their work is centered on the highly competitive eLearning industry. eLearning usage in the government sector is more in-demand than ever before, and Adventfs needed a new brand refresh in order to stand out within the rapidly growing eLearning market.

The Importance of Branding

A company competing within the eLearning industry must present a brand that is quickly recognizable, draws attention to itself, and conveys to audiences that the company is a trusted player within its industry.

Adventfs’s branding was becoming dated and was no longer representative of a company who was at the forefront of their industry. Advent approached the branding experts at The Marketing Department in order to create a new corporate branding system that represented their internal values, goals, and mission.

New Horizons

The best branding tells a story: When Josh Hartlage, the founder of Adventfs, imagined the company at its inception, he envisioned eLearning for diversions as a means to provide a new beginnings for offenders and to alter the course of their lives—the “advent” of a new day, a chance to live their lives with a clean slate, and the hope of a better future.

This history is represented by the sunrise graphic incorporated into the new Adventfs logo. The sunrise element can be used as a standalone graphic, a favicon, a bullet point, or other supporting graphic.

In order to maintain brand loyalty and recognition for existing audiences, we retained the red and gray coloring as a bridge between the older branding elements and the new rebrand.

Adventfs was also experiencing issues with their naming convention. Audiences were confused and unsure of how to read or say “Adventfs”. After examining the old logo and identifying the issues, we separated fs (standing for: For Solutions) from the word “advent” in a red box to improve readability and recognition.

The red box element is now a square with rounded corners, mimicking a button used to launch an application, creating a modern aesthetic that lends itself to the context of Advent’s place within the eLearning industry.

The new Adventfs logo has been applied across a number of advent online resources, both as the overarching Adventfs logo and a modified, “Powered By: Adventfs” logo treatment.

The new branding has also been updated on printed materials, email templates, company stationery, trade show graphics, video content, and more. The new branding will also be introduced in the fall using a series of clever three-dimensional direct mailers that will be sent to highly valued target prospects and existing customers.
